Don't Blink...the sun was out

The summer of 2009 in Levant is turning out to be a rainy and cold one. Fortunately, there have been a couple days this week (finally, we are half way through July!) that we were able to spend some time outside. We even got in the pool today. Of course Soren's favorite part about being in the pool is that he gets to get "nakey" when he gets out. Needless to say, his cousins enjoy this too. And of course, as a means to get the picture above, we told them to "pee on the wall". I now fear that they will be peeing on any wall they see:)

While the water has been too cold for Bodie to join us for a swim, he can still dress the part!

And finally, a tid-bit about Bodie...Bodie joined his cohorts at our friend Emily's suprise party this weekend and I was feeling like Bodie was looking a bit large next to his friends born April 14, June 5, and June 14. Granted, Bodie is a bit older than him, but I was still feeling like he was freakishly large so it sparked my curiosity...Bodie weighed in today at 19.0 lbs! He isn't even 4 months yet. He IS freakishly large!

I Hit (fill in the blank here)...

Poor Bodie...its all about Soren once again...

As Soren becomes more verbal he is trying to figure out how to express his emotions. While he sometimes says "I am mad" or "Soren is sad", he more often says that he wants to hit whatever he is mad at (and sometimes actually does hit it...he has definately come into the terrible twos!). The other day, he woke up and said that he wanted to see Beepa (his grandfather) and I explained to him that we could not see Beepa today as Beepa is away on vacation. Soren's response..."I want to hit Beepa's vacation!"

Another cute story...Soren, once again, said he wanted to see his Beepa one morning and I explained that we could not see Beepa because "Beepa is working ON a house right now". Soren's response..."Get off the roof Beepa!".

Bodie is cute and smiley and LOVES to be held. He remains a lot more chill than Soren ever was. He is a big boy and we think he may grow up to be our football player, or sumo wrestler, we aren't sure which yet!

Happy Birthday Daddy

Happy 30th Birthday Daddy!

We got to celebrate Kevin (Daddy's) birthday with all of the nephews and neice. Kevin's 30th birthday was almost as wild as his 20th birthday. A bunch of guys running into each other, screaming, and falling over. The only difference is the the guys at his 20th birthday were drinking from red keg cups and the guys at his 30th birthday were using sippy cups!

We're in for trouble...

From day one, Soren has had a very strong personality. When he is goofy, he is really goofy, and when he is mad, he is really mad. Fortunately, most of the time he is just goofy. As we have said many times before, the best way to sum up his personality is that of Chris Farley. Lately, we have become even more weary of Soren's similarities to Chris Farley. We recently spent an afternoon spinning the boys around in the backyard. Soren was getting so dizzy that he would walk and fall like a drunk kid, and he LOVED it! He asks to get dizzy all the time now...We are a little worried about what this means when he gets into his "experimentation phase" in adolesence.
Bodie on the otherhand continues to be a laid back little fellow. He is starting to smile a lot more and especially likes talking to dad. He will lay very quietly in a swing or chair as long as there are many people around. However, if he is alone with someone, he demands to be held at all times. Little bugger. This is so different from Soren at this age who would sit by himself for hours and talk away, completely entertained by himself. We have decided that Bodie got a few more of mom's genes and Soren got a few more of dad's.

The anti-2

Since his 2nd birthday, when I made Soren practice saying he was 2 years old during the entire drive to Grandma's house, Soren has rebelled against the number 2.  While he was happy to say he was 2 during our practice session, once we got to his celebration, he of course, did not perform.  He insisted he was 6 rather than 2.  And he used to be able to count to 10 perfectly, but now leaves out the 2 every time.  1,3,4,5...  When you try to correct him by counting including the 2, he is quick to say "no 2!".  I asked him to repeat "1,2,3" today and he said "1,3,4".  One of his movies has a line that says "1,2, cha, cha, cha" and Soren says, "1,3, cha, cha, cha".  Perhaps next time I should have him practice saying "no" and then he will stop using that word too!

And once again, poor Bodie gets a quick shout out while Soren gets the full paragraph...Bodie is doing well and getting very smiley.  He is still so cute!  And he made mom very happy last night when he only woke up twice and was given a binky each time and not fed.  Mom was not sure what to do with all that sleep!

The future blackmail possibilities are endless

As I have said before, Soren's language skills impress us each day. He is certainly a talkative little fellow and getting very into describing everything. He often says "Soren has a little nose/hand/face/whatever". Today after bath we almost died laughing when Soren continued to point to his penis and say "Soren has a little, little penis". We can't wait to use that as blackmail in 13 years!

Bodie had his 2 month check up today and is doing well. He weighed in at 13.5lbs. And, like his brother is off the chart for height. He's starting to look more like a baby now and less like a newborn...its so cute!

Quite an Imagination...

Just when we thought that Soren couldn't get any goofier, his imagination starts to show...

Today when driving in the car, Soren said that spiders were bouncing in his pjs and on his zipper. He then went on to say that Erica (Kevin's cousin) was with Papa in Antarctica where the penguins are. So cute...

(Also, Soren is topping the growth charts at 33lbs-- 95% and off the charts with height. If Soren is that big I can't wait to see how Bodie ranks at his appointment!)

Happy Birthday Soren

Happy 2nd Birthday Soren.  Soren turned 2 years old on April 30!  Of course we started the "I remember the day you were born..." stories and we officially felt very old.  Soren had a great time.  When I greeted him on his birthday morning with "Happy Birthday" he immediately said that he was going to get presents.  How do they learn that stuff?!  And of course the funny part was that we hadn't gotten him a present. don't worry, he made out fine and yes, we did break down and buy him a bday gift.  Soren enjoyed celebrating his bday with his cousins, Nick and Tim, Grandma, and Aunty Amy and Uncle Gregy.  Grandma and Papa bought Soren a big boy bike!  He isn't great at riding it yet, but he is starting to understand the concept of peddling and loves sitting on his bike.

Other than Soren's birthday, we have been quite busy.  Bodie is growing very quickly and according to our scale a week ago, he was between 13.5 and 15lbs!  We thought Soren was a big boy but he was a peanut compared.  Speaking of compared, we can't help but compare the two boys with everything. This is what we have come up with so far...Soren was much more smiley and engaging as he was actively smiling at 5 weeks. Bodie is just starting to smile and does not make nearly as much eye contact. Bodie is much more of a cuddle bug and much more laid back.  It will be very interesting to see how his personality develops.

Its back to work for me tomorrow.  I am not quite ready for this, but ready or not, here work comes.  Bodie will be joining Soren at Devon's daycare and we are confident that he will like it as much as Soren.  It was a strange and very busy maternity leave which included activities such as managing the trailer park, planning the class reunion, helping plan baby showers, and doing a bit of real estate. I just keep telling myself, things will slow down soon...maybe:)

Testing 1, 2, 3...

Just testing out our new blog...

We had been using http://www.sidellpeterson.aboutmybaby.com/ as a means to get everyone the much needed up to date information on Soren. However, we thought we might catch up with the times and switch to a more traditional blog. We hope to be able to update this site more often and share more pictures with you. We will keep the aboutmybaby.com site going for a bit longer but will eventually be transitioning completely to blogspot.com.

So, in addition to a new blog, as most of you have heard, we also have a new son! Boden (Bodie) Sidell Peterson was born on March 17, 2009 at 3:34am. He was 9lbs 12oz and 21.5in. So far, he has been an awesome baby and seems to be very laid back. Soren is doing great with him and seems to like havinga brother. He has not yet shown any jealousy and seems to understand when I can't play with him or help him because I am feeding the baby. Soren loves to rock him in the rocking chair and give him kisses. We hope this love for his brother continues however, we anticipate that when Bodie is old enough to use Soren's toys, it may be challenged:)

Overall, life in the Sidell/Peterson household is chaotic but wonderful. Had you asked Kevin or I 10 years ago (hell, even 3 years ago) if life would look like this we would have laughed at you! But now that we're here, we wouldn't change a thing!
