The anti-2

Since his 2nd birthday, when I made Soren practice saying he was 2 years old during the entire drive to Grandma's house, Soren has rebelled against the number 2.  While he was happy to say he was 2 during our practice session, once we got to his celebration, he of course, did not perform.  He insisted he was 6 rather than 2.  And he used to be able to count to 10 perfectly, but now leaves out the 2 every time.  1,3,4,5...  When you try to correct him by counting including the 2, he is quick to say "no 2!".  I asked him to repeat "1,2,3" today and he said "1,3,4".  One of his movies has a line that says "1,2, cha, cha, cha" and Soren says, "1,3, cha, cha, cha".  Perhaps next time I should have him practice saying "no" and then he will stop using that word too!

And once again, poor Bodie gets a quick shout out while Soren gets the full paragraph...Bodie is doing well and getting very smiley.  He is still so cute!  And he made mom very happy last night when he only woke up twice and was given a binky each time and not fed.  Mom was not sure what to do with all that sleep!

The future blackmail possibilities are endless

As I have said before, Soren's language skills impress us each day. He is certainly a talkative little fellow and getting very into describing everything. He often says "Soren has a little nose/hand/face/whatever". Today after bath we almost died laughing when Soren continued to point to his penis and say "Soren has a little, little penis". We can't wait to use that as blackmail in 13 years!

Bodie had his 2 month check up today and is doing well. He weighed in at 13.5lbs. And, like his brother is off the chart for height. He's starting to look more like a baby now and less like a newborn...its so cute!

Quite an Imagination...

Just when we thought that Soren couldn't get any goofier, his imagination starts to show...

Today when driving in the car, Soren said that spiders were bouncing in his pjs and on his zipper. He then went on to say that Erica (Kevin's cousin) was with Papa in Antarctica where the penguins are. So cute...

(Also, Soren is topping the growth charts at 33lbs-- 95% and off the charts with height. If Soren is that big I can't wait to see how Bodie ranks at his appointment!)

Happy Birthday Soren

Happy 2nd Birthday Soren.  Soren turned 2 years old on April 30!  Of course we started the "I remember the day you were born..." stories and we officially felt very old.  Soren had a great time.  When I greeted him on his birthday morning with "Happy Birthday" he immediately said that he was going to get presents.  How do they learn that stuff?!  And of course the funny part was that we hadn't gotten him a present. don't worry, he made out fine and yes, we did break down and buy him a bday gift.  Soren enjoyed celebrating his bday with his cousins, Nick and Tim, Grandma, and Aunty Amy and Uncle Gregy.  Grandma and Papa bought Soren a big boy bike!  He isn't great at riding it yet, but he is starting to understand the concept of peddling and loves sitting on his bike.

Other than Soren's birthday, we have been quite busy.  Bodie is growing very quickly and according to our scale a week ago, he was between 13.5 and 15lbs!  We thought Soren was a big boy but he was a peanut compared.  Speaking of compared, we can't help but compare the two boys with everything. This is what we have come up with so far...Soren was much more smiley and engaging as he was actively smiling at 5 weeks. Bodie is just starting to smile and does not make nearly as much eye contact. Bodie is much more of a cuddle bug and much more laid back.  It will be very interesting to see how his personality develops.

Its back to work for me tomorrow.  I am not quite ready for this, but ready or not, here work comes.  Bodie will be joining Soren at Devon's daycare and we are confident that he will like it as much as Soren.  It was a strange and very busy maternity leave which included activities such as managing the trailer park, planning the class reunion, helping plan baby showers, and doing a bit of real estate. I just keep telling myself, things will slow down soon...maybe:)
