Just Because You Own Them…

Just because you own clippers, it does not mean that you are a hairstylist.  This is a lesson I need to learn.  I totally butchered the kids hair.   No really, totally butchered them. IMG_7287IMG_7288

One may think that these really really really bad haircuts would sway me from attempting again. Nah, I am way to cheap to pay for hair cuts. Its just another thing the kids can talk about on the couch when they are olderWinking smile

Little Swimmer

So I know that you should let your kids grow and make decisions on their own. You should encourage and support them with decisions, blah, blah, blah…

And yeah, when it comes down to it, we will let Soren pick his own sports, but I really really really want him to be a swimmer.  I won’t bore anyone with the benefits and skills that I took away from my swim career.  (Hey, at the very least, I got a husband out of it), but yeah, I am probably putting a little bit of pressure and throwing a little bit of pro-swimming propaganda Soren’s way.  But just think about how stinking cute he would be in a little Speedo…

Male Models

Lucky Beepa got to go on another European vacation, but he never fails to bring back goodies for the kids.  Its usually some fancy candy, a teeshirt, maybe a toy, but this time, he brought back some Italian underwear.  I truly cannot think of anything cuter than these little boys running around the house in their Italian underwear.

Seasame Street Live

We were looking for something to do on a chilly, snowless Wednesday and happened to see that Seasame Street Live was in town.  What the heck, the kids are only young once…

IMG_7266We got some awesome (and by awesome, I mean cheap—$12/seat) seats. Soren was a little nervous about the steep incline, and kept saying he was afraid of heights. I guess that is one way to keep him in his seat for the show.

IMG_7261Both kids had a great time, sang and danced, and ate way too much cotton candy. Not bad for a little Wednesday afternoon. IMG_7263IMG_7265

The Next Snuggie Spokesmen

I love Snuggies. I was the first in the family to buy a Snuggie.  I would bring it to work for my overnight shifts (it gets very cold at 3am when your body is shutting down). At first, my coworkers made fun. But you better believe it was not long before they were asking to borrow my Snuggie each time I wasn’t using it!  Kevin was the next Snuggie owner.  He got a Superman Snuggie to match his Superman underpants for Christmas last year…nothing but class in our house!  Needless to say, the boys were thrilled when they opened their gift from the St.Pierre’s—Snuggies!  But not just any Snuggies, camouflage Snuggies.  Not sure it could get any more perfect than that. Soren couldn’t contain his excitement so he decided to let it out with a song.

And of course, Soren’s excitement was contagious and Bodie had to join in too.

Rock Stars

We have had many many days this winter that were freezing, windy, and with no snow.  What does that mean for two little boys?  It means having to get creative with finding things to do inside.  Luckily, the boys have no shortage of creativity.

Wipe Out!

Its January 22 and we finally have a little bit of snow, a day home with Kevin, and no one was throwing up.  A perfect day for some sledding.

We Will Be Back

But first, I leave you with one of mine and Kevin’s favorite Denis Leary skits. The part of Denis Leary will be played by Boodle…

The Big Day!

Finally, the day we had all been waiting for arrived. Of course it arrived a bit earlier for some of us than others. Like Soren who was kind enough to remind me that Christmas was here at 4:45am!  Poor Boodle had to be awoken and dragged out of bed at 630.  Once the sleepy seeds were wiped away, and Bodie realized what day it was, the festivities began.

We started with the stockings and quickly moved to chaos…

IMG_7090IMG_7099Soren got his covetted snow board from Santa (now if we can just get some snow…)

IMG_7098Bodie got a pretty cool M&M set-up from Santa

IMG_7102Soren loved his Star Wars Legos that Bodie picked out for him. So much that Bodie even got a hug out of it.

IMG_7103The morning went on with a million presents, including a 3.5 foot gumball machine from Aunt Amanda and Uncle Danny along with an extra 850 gumballs (all I can say is when Aunty Amanda has kids, payback is a bitchWinking smile)IMG_7118IMG_7123IMG_7125

Needless to say, when the end was near, the kids were on system overload. Bodie had gone a little crazy and adopted this fancy new way to open presents (it was actually quite funny because this lasted for about 20 minutes)

Overall, it was a great day. The kids made out like bandits. But I was most happy at the end of the day to hear that Soren’s favorite part of the day was the fact that he got to spend the day with his familySmile

A Super Christmas Eve

I have come to feel like Christmas is like a wedding. The amount of time, energy, and money that goes into 3 hours of chaos absolutely amazes me.  But hey, at least it is 3 hours of fun.  If Santa’s visit was like the bachelor party and Christmas is like the wedding, then I would compare Christmas Eve to the rehearsal dinner.  The excited energy was in the air!

We started off with a “quiet” dinner at the St.Pierre/Sidell’s (you can check that out here) And then it was home for rehearsal dinner number two.  We arrived home to a greeting party of Uncle Danny and Aunt Amanda.  We quickly settled in for a Peterson Family Tradition—Christmas PJs!

IMG_7030IMG_7033

The boys were Super excited and they thought the pjs were Super cool.  I think this years pjs, while a little non-traditional, were a Super hit (puns intendedWinking smile  yes, I am a nerd)

We had to spend about a half an hour flying around the house before we could settle down, but the threat that Santa was flying over the Atlantic was enough to motivate even the most excited little boys.

IMG_7039IMG_7041IMG_7043IMG_7044IMG_7045IMG_7047IMG_7060IMG_7059

Of course all of that running sent poor Soren into a serious coughing attack which put him in a total panic that Santa would skip our house if he didn’t fall asleep. Not to worry, the coughing diminished and Soren fell asleep just in time for Santa’s arrival.

We left Santa a side salad as requested from the Big Guy himself.

And finally, Santa arrived…
