So I have totally slacked on the blog lately but I thought that the first day of school was a blog-worthy event. What can I say…Soren starts kindergarten today!
The activities started last night with his open house. Soren was a little bit nervous at first and actually called me over to say “I’m scared”:(
But his fear was short lived and he had a great time riding the school bus for the first time.
He was so happy to reunite with his best friend, Kaleb, from daycare who happens to be in his class! They got to meet their teacher, Miss Debeck together. They were not nearly as shy as I had anticipated. Actually, they were quite wound together. If they are this comfortable in the classroom on their first encounter, I am a little nervous to see how crazy they get a couple weeks into school. But Miss Debeck didn’t seem too fazed.
After a tour of the classroom, they got to get acquainted with the playground.
And then it was off to bed to get a good night’s rest. In the morning, I had wake Soren up at 710am. This is crazy since I think the latest he has slept all summer was 630a! Up and dressed.
And then it was time. The dreaded moment. Kev and I got a little misty-eyed but kept the full tears at bay. And Soren, well Soren got on that bus like a confident, excited, ready-to-take-on-the-world kid. And so the next chapter begins. Good luck Soren!
