Mad Scientists

Soren came home from school after Science Day very excited to show us an experiment. Who knew a little water and corn starch could be so much fun?!

Baby it's cold outside

When we woke up to -8 degrees (without the wind chill) AGAIN today, we knew it would be another inside day. If this cold snap continues, we won't need curtains, we'll just fill windows with art.

Chez Frizze

The boys have been quite adamant about growing their hair out. This is not something I am opposed to, as you may remember Soren's hair was shoulder length at one time. But when I had to fight them to style it and they put on hats every morning anyway, it started to just look like a mess. Bodie finally agreed to his hair cut and within 3 minutes we were at Amy's newest hair cutting hobby salon, Chez Frizze: must seize the moment when he was agreeable. I was quite grateful a few days later when I brought Soren swimming and his hair was getting in his eyes. So thank you to our resident stylist for acting so quickly in my ploys to exploit my children's indecisiveness with their hair.

Claymation

Boodle's medium of choice these days? Clay! And he is actually at about the same sculpting skill level as me. He was very excited to show his mini figure of himself with goggles on and koki (koki) is the one with the pointy ears)

A beautiful spring...er, January day

52 degrees, sunny, with no wind makes for an awesome day. Bodie and I enjoyed a nice walk and some climbing. Nice to get some fresh air before the big freeze next week!

A night out

On New Year's Eve, Ali and Brian got a new spouse and we got a night out!

Hitting the slopes

Since his older friend Mason took snowboarding lessons two years ago, Soren has been chomping at the bit to hit the slopes. He finally got his chance this week with his first lesson. Mason gave some invaluable advice in his warning that the first lesson could be frustrating but to stick with it. Soren and nick took this advice to heart and did great! Positive attitudes all around and they even wanted to stay late after the lesson to continue practicing! They'll be hitting the black diamonds in no time!

Sore bums and rosy cheeks

You know it was a great day of sledding when everyone comes in with sore bums and rosy cheeks!

King of the mountain

Everyday when I pick Soren up from school he is begging to climb the huge snow bank in the parking lot. I usually decline the request due to the chaos occurring in the elementary school parking lot at pick up time--seriously, it would put the streets of Boston to shame. So I declined him every day but today! And with it being Saturday, we had the place to ourselves
