Several family members reserved a week out at camp this summer as their vacation. While Kevin and I did not find time to take a whole week off, the boys and I have taken it upon ourselves to spread out our fun and crash everyone else’s vacations. Annie and Woody of course were not exempt.
Woody was even cool enough to be invited into the “wire house”…quite an exclusive club.
Last week, my cousin Annie, her husband Woody, and baby Keegan made the long haul from New Jersey to Maine (in a record 7 hours to Levant I might add). There first stop was Levant, where Keegan got his first taste of the crazy boy chaos. Keegan jumped right into the mad house and tried his hardest to hang with the big boys. His mom tried to put him in the high chair while the other boys sat at the picnic table, but little Keegan wanted nothing to do with that! He very quickly became just one of the gang.
In preparation for my cousin Annie, her husband Woody, and baby Keegan’s (pics to come) arrival, Grandma came over to make desert with the boys. I think they had a good time. Unfortunately, I did not catch the shot of Soren putting his entire head in the bowl to try to lick it clean with his tongue.
When looking at the blog, if it looks like we have spent the entire summer in the water, it is because we have. We could not have asked for better weather this summer and have only gone a handful of days without taking a dip somewhere. The kids love it!
The more time we spend at camp, the braver the boys are getting. They recently took on the challenge of swimming to “the rock” (about 50 yards away). They didn’t quite make it that far, but they made it about 3/4 of the way and the buoy (aka: milk jug or bottle) was an equally exciting tactile marker.
Recently, Kevin went away for a week to build a bus garage. While away, his children of course missed him terribly, and like any good parent, Kevin felt horribly guilty. So guilty that the kids could get pretty much anything out of him when he returned. This is a picture of the Kevin allowing Soren to begin painting at 6:30pm (yes, a half hour before bedtime). I had to work that night I left Kevin and the boys to enjoy. I am not sure Kevin truly understood the amount of work goes into painting with a 1 yo and 3 yo. Regardless, the boys loved it and I think Kevin did too. Next time he goes away, they should just ask for a pony.
