While Soren’s Away…

Having Soren away at school 5 days a week has given Bodie and I some special bonding time.  Prior to this month, there have literally only been a handful of times I have spent time alone with Bodie.  I admit, I was a bit worried as to how to fill the time with my little monster, but we have certainly found things to keep us busy. 

 

All of this alone time has certainly allowed me to get to know a new side of Bodie. Bodie is thriving with his time independent of his brother.  He has become a leader a daycare and is working along side the other newly promoted big boys at daycare to lead the activities. Bodie is enjoying his swimming lessons and story hour at the library.  And he certainly has proven to be a better shopping partner than two little boys together (except for the one time I decided I had to go to The Walmart for something at which point Bodie began throwing a tantrum within 20 seconds of entering the store…I get it, I feel the same way about Walmart).  And he has been very eager to help with Grandma’s moving activities.

A Rainy Day

We LOVE rainy weekend days in this house because that means that Kevin can’t do much work in the trailer park and gets to hang out with us.  And since it was rainy, what better thing to do is just hang out…or jump around…

Fell off the Face of the Earth

Well, no, we haven’t actually fallen off the face of the Earth, just the blogging earth.  But we’ve been so busy living on in the real world, we’ve just not found the time for the blog…sorry to my loyal readers (all three of you).

Survived

Soren, and I, survived the first day of school!  On the first day, he got off the bus and immediately said, “I had a great day!”.  He then proceeded to tell us every detail of the day…so stinking cute!

 

He loved his teacher. He loved taking the bus. He met a new friend. And he introduced himself to many kids on the playground. And he said that his only surprise was that he got not one, but two recesses!  Wow, a toddler no longer!  I have a school-aged boy. 

First Day of School!

So I have totally slacked on the blog lately but I thought that the first day of school was a blog-worthy event.  What can I say…Soren starts kindergarten today! 

The activities started last night with his open house. Soren was a  little bit nervous at first and actually called me over to say “I’m scared”:(

But his fear was short lived and he had a great time riding the school bus for the first time.

He was so happy to reunite with his best friend, Kaleb, from daycare who happens to be in his class!  They got to meet their teacher, Miss Debeck together.  They were not nearly as shy as I had anticipated. Actually, they were quite wound together.  If they are this comfortable in the classroom on their first encounter, I am a little nervous to see how crazy they get a couple weeks into school.  But Miss Debeck didn’t seem too fazed.

 

After a tour of the classroom, they got to get acquainted with the playground.

And then it was off to bed to get a good night’s rest.  In the morning, I had wake Soren up at 710am.  This is crazy since I think the latest he has slept all summer was 630a!  Up and dressed. 

 

 

And then it was time. The dreaded moment. Kev and I got a little misty-eyed but kept the full tears at bay. And Soren, well Soren got on that bus like a confident, excited, ready-to-take-on-the-world kid.  And so the next chapter begins.  Good luck Soren!

 

Some Catching Up To Do

I guess we’ve got some catching up to do!  The weather has been far too nice, the company has been too plenty, and we’ve been having too much fun to worry about blogs!  Yep, the way summer should be!
