The Sun Was Here and We Have Proof

Finally, after what seemed like weeks of cold rain, the sun came out!  And with it, the bugs came out!  Even our yard, which is almost always bug free, was a haven for blackflies, so we decided to hit the beach.

IMG_4722We rocked our best redneck outfits and hit one of our favorite spring-time spots—Sandy Point Beach in Stockton Springs.

IMG_4723Soren thought the Seaweed was so cool, he wanted to fully experience the slime. IMG_4726IMG_4728The boys had a great time walking around with their “marshmallow sticks” as Bodie called them. IMG_4729IMG_4734They tried playing catch with their ball nets, but after a few minutes of no one catching the ball, they decided playing in the sand was more entertaining. IMG_4740IMG_4739

IMG_4742I am happy to report that everyone was happy. The boys got along really well. And it was just one of those perfect spring days!

Touch-A-Truck

For the 2nd year in a row, the kids enjoyed the Touch-A-Truck event put on the Old Town Parks and Rec Dept.

IMG_4691IMG_4693IMG_4694Luckily, I was far enough away for this shot so it just looks cute.  If I were 5 feet closer, you would be able to see the screaming match the boys were having because neither one wanted to share a seat.  Ah, the joys of brining the boys into publicSmile

This year Boodle was old enough to really get into the event.  His favorite part was undoubtedly, the little construction hats they provided.

We Ain’t Scared…

Of a little rain!  Since we have the house clean now that it is on the market, the real struggle is keeping it clean with two crazy little boys. I have decided the ONLY way this is accomplished is by keeping them out of the house. So that means we have had some serious quality time with the outdoors. Unfortunately, up until 2 days ago, it had been raining and cold.  But that’s okay, a little rain doesn’t scare us.

IMG_4651IMG_4657IMG_4661IMG_4679IMG_4673Soren is going to be that person who makes funny faces to the camera on the roller coaster at amusement parks.

Keeping the house clean also includes, eating all of our meals outside too.

The other day, Kevin came home from work just as I was telling the kids to get outside because dinner was ready. Kevin looked at me like I was crazy and said, “Its raining outside?!”  and of course my answer was, “ah,yeah, so?”.

Can’t Get Enough of Camp

Even though the weather has been horrendous so far this year, we have tried to make it out to camp as much as possible and whenever a good excuse allows us.  Aunty Jess, Mason, and Fiona were visiting for Mother’s Day and we couldn’t go the whole weekend without a trip to camp.  The kids loved it and this is why…

Soren Dawg

This original piece of rap art was inspired by Aunty Jess, but goes out to all you preggos out there…

Untitled from Amanda Sidell on Vimeo.

And in case you couldn’t understand Soren’s urban accent here are the lyrics…

”With a baby in your belly

It might be smelly

Smelly with that baby in your belly

Show it to your motha’” (I think what he meant to say was “word to your motha”, but close enough)

Along with his gangster tongue, Soren is currently working on perfecting his southern accent. Stay tuned for some future clips from our budding actor.

Dirty Birthday

Soren celebrated his 4th birthday with all of his cousins, aunts, some uncles, and grandparents.  It was a dirty event with the theme being Bugs.  And there was no shortage of bugs around!

Of course I was pleased with the theme because we got to serve these super cute dirt cakes!

The younger kids were a little confused as to why they should eat potted plants…yeah, this may come back to bite us later. DSCN0165DSCN0173

But the older kids thought it was both cool and quite tasty!

(And Nick ate his so fast that I didn’t even get a picture!)

Soren got a ton of really cool presents. And we had a proud parent moment when he went to hug each of the gift givers after opening each present without being prompted to do so!  Maybe there are some manners hiding in there somewhereSmile

And as always, Beepa was a big hit with the boys!

So birthday number 4 for Soren both a success and the end of an era.  Soren will be in pre-k next year and kind of a big boy so it will be time for real birthday parties with friends.  Thanks family, for indulging in bug, construction, and little boy themed parties!
