Clam Bake

The boys’ idea of a clam bake is a little bit different than ours.

Step 1: Gather the clams.  “Tim the Specialist” as he calls himself, is the expert in this step.

 

Step 2: Smash the clams with a big rock (please don’t throw red paint at me PETA)

 

Step 3: Separate the dying, slimy clams from the shells.

 

Step 4:  Offer your goods for $50/clam (Can’t criticize their entrepreneurial spirit)

    

Step 5:  Let your product sit out in the sun for hours to bake. You know they are done when even the camp next store can smell them!

Who doesn’t love a good fire?!  Which is why we love Amy’s new fire pit!  We anticipate many a night in the future. But to start, we got to kick of Nick’s last day of school with some good old fashioned fun—burning things!

Only a Peterson…

While a nice wooden swing set would be just fine for anyone, including our children, it just doesn’t fit with the Peterson set of ideals—bigger=better.  Which is why I was not surprised when Phase 1 of Project Peterson Swingset was delivered…

           

Will be interested to see what Phase II looks like…

Part of the Gang!

Danny was nice enough to let us borrow his 4-wheeler for a weekend at camp.  It was cool to finally be part of the 4-wheeling gang down there as I think we are pretty much the only ones at camp without our own set of wheels (for now;)).  The kids had a great time going really fast with the dads.

             

I even took Grandma for a ride and we got up to a crazy 26mph!  Good times. Thanks Uncle Danny for the 4-wheeler.  Anyone know of a used 4-wheeler for sale?!

Howdy Partner

You know you’re in Hampden when…

 

Your kids are invited to a birthday party with pony rides! 

Soren and Bodie were lucky enough to attend their friend Ashleigh and new friend Elise’s 3rd Birthday party.  They enjoyed pony rides, fun with a bubble maker, good friends, and the cutest little cake pops ever. 

Soren also got a kick out of the pinata. Unfortunately, I did not take pictures of that event, but if I had, you would have seen a progression of pictures of an entire line of little kids trying unsuccessfully to wack the pinata open.  You then would have seen Soren step up to the plate, look back to Kev, give the cut throat sign, and process to crack the pinata open with one forceful wack!  Yep, that’s my boy:)

Pool Partay!

Since we opened our pool on Mother’s Day weekend, every day at our house is a pool party!  Actually Soren started the pool party when the pool was still slimy green and dirty by jumping in with his clothes on—that boy will do anything to get people to laugh.  But apparently he made it look appealing because his cousins quickly followed suit.  (I don’t have pictures but I am sure we will be able to read about the event on Amy and/or Jess’ blog soon;))  I digress… Anyway, our pool is sparkling blue now and the kids and adults are loving it!  Its going to be another great summer at our house!
