A Tree Finding Adventure

It is December already!  How did this happen?  But anyway, it is here and Christmas is among us so I guess that means it was time for a tree.  We originally were going to just go with Grandma to find her tree but Kevin and I were looking at the calendar and realizing that we were not going to have time to get ours as a family. So I coaxed him out of the trailer park for a few hours and even got Beepa to tag along.

We then met up with Grandma, Aunty Amy, Uncle Greg, Nick, Tim, and Beepas crew for a real family adventure.

It was a beautiful day. Seriously, I think it was probably in the 50s and sunny. In lieu of freezing little boys, we got muddy little boys!

Of course, in true Soren fashion, it took him all of 2 minutes to fall right into the mud.

We hiked and hiked until we found the perfect tree. While the kids were scoping the pines, Amy, Grandma, and I made sure the event was well documented.

Kevin made his usual classy jokes (which actually means he is in high spirits…I think that he appreciated a little break from the trailer park)

We even had time to stop for a couple of family pictures (compliments of Amy Sidell Photography)

By the time we found Grandma’s tree, the kids had some serious hiking under their belts. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring snacks for the journey which can be disastrous for Soren. Instead of feeling sluggish when he is hungry, he goes into hyperwarp…and seriously, as you know, Soren takes everything to the extreme, including hyperwarp!  I had to show the series of pictures for this one to illustrate the fish-like flopping motion he is doing…and no, his feet are not touching the ground…

Not to worry, we made it back to the shack for donuts and cider before any permanent damage was caused.

We ended up with some perfect trees, great pictures, a couple more memories, and some tired boys.  Success!

maslooks like fun, that is the charm of picking out a new tree each year rather than our hike to the back of the attic to pull ours out for the holiday. love the caption & pic of amy and kevin...i could almost hear the offending joke:)
